What exactly has changed in the bootcamp?

From Captain France @ericazhan:

Everyone’s feelings are different. I have so many feelings that I finally sorted out the two points that I think are the most important:

Programming: Knowledge & Skills, Confidence

Let’s start with the little thing about programming.

Before the bootcamp, I taught myself the classic “Stupid Method to Learn Python” and honestly completed the first 42 exercises. Python basic syntax knowledge is done, and then, there is no then. . I didn’t really use python other than the exercises in the textbook. My job is civil structure calculations, and there are actually many parts that I feel like can be automated, but I don’t know how to relate to the python syntax that I practiced.

No matter how many solutions there are on the Internet, for my own problems, I still have to think of logic and type code. I didn’t find the answer directly online, so I gave up.

Analyze by yourself, one is lazy, after all, everyone has not programmed, and you can always get the job done with stupid methods; The second is that there is no self-confidence in programming. I always feel that the level is not enough, when to learn an advanced class.

Then two years passed. . I still know a little bit of programming, but I can’t solve anything.

Before signing up for the python camp, I also asked: I have already started, will the course be too easy? Ha ha.

There is no mentor in the bootcamp to type code by hand. There are only problems to be solved. One task per week;

The process is not easy. Especially for a long time, I have been accustomed to listening to lectures, thinking that to understand is to learn. Now it’s very real, tiring, and really effective to make a path through the jungle on your own. Solve one task after another, and the confidence in programming comes up. I’ve never typed so much code before, and it’s all written by myself! It turns out that I can really do it~

The self-confidence of programming was solved, and the lazy cancer was also temporarily alleviated because of the training of the course. I used it immediately in my work~ Python and pandas scan the input data, extract and filter; Combined with CMD, it is used to filter and calculate the results of multiple working conditions of a certain column; The calculation table in excel uses python with openpyxl to replace the calculation, which is too much speedup. . Now I want to automate the double counting in my work~ Haha. Let’s have some new fun.

This self-confidence doesn’t stop at programming. The slogan of the bootcamp is the last online class. For me, the bootcamp was my first 100% completed online class in many years. Yes, the “hobby of learning” for many years, almost no courses completed, there are always countless passionate beginnings, but they don’t stick to the end. . But because of this small success. So I became more confident and bought another online course. About ballet learning, it has just ended, and the second course has been completed~

focus: the most important and the most difficult

One last thing: focus.

I have always theoretically known that only concentration can make a difference, that only paranoia can succeed, and that adults who want anything will result in nothing. But there are so many fun and interesting things. This time, when I participated in the training camp, it was just in time for the lockdown, and I had no choice, except for going to work and exercising, the rest of the time was almost wholeheartedly dedicated, and when I had a programming headache, I thought about what to say on Sunday’s live broadcast, so the harvest was also very big, and it has been affecting me now. Ha ha.

Experiencing first-hand the power of concentration, I decided to seriously restrain my many hobbies. Reducing the pursuit of multiple goals can also reduce the mental entropy in the brain, and stop thinking about this and that. The process was a bit rough and thankfully now aware of the problem. Keep working hard and focus~
